GLASGOW LIFE
Artist-in-Residence, Ward 18, Phase 1
Focused on arousing curiosity in places and spaces of waiting and working with established groups in the area. Purpose: to create connections through creativity that could explore, ‘what would residents want from an artist in residence? What is the artist’s job and does it apply?’
Work included performance poetry sessions with Riddrie Primary School, a local knitters group in the library, poetry with those passing in the local park, the waiting room for families visiting loved ones in HMP Barlinnie, youth groups in Cranhill and Balmarnock, and residents of the Scottish Veterans Association and addiction recovery groups. Connecting with Quarriers, Cranhill CC, Cranhill Dev Trust, the Scottish Veterans Association, local primary and high schools, Riddrie Library, local ESOL classes and food-poverty holiday programs with local families.
